Fat Darby was started in the dankie garage of J.P.'s in Blackhawk, CA.  The quaint white collar posh surroundings were not prepared for this rock and roll grinding band blaring its sound throughout the bucolic neighborhood.

The trio was started when Darby (bass and vocals) was pregnant, deriving the name "Fat" Darby.  Together with John Pulliam "JP" (guitar, vocals) and Chad Harrison (drums) developed a sound and a following throughout the east bay.  The band plays a range of music from the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, 2000's, and 2010's music.   Set lists are usually 40+ songs and over 3 hours of music.

In 2019, guest artists Kale and AJ have collaborated to bring a fuller sound and tackle challenging music like War Pigs, Immigrant Song, and Spirit of Radio.
